Ofsted Confirms Winton Academy Remains 'Outstanding'

Catgeories : Group news

Inspectors commend school for its “warm and inclusive culture”.

There was much celebration at Winton Academy this week after Ofsted confirmed that the school continues to be ‘Outstanding’ following an inspection in May.
The inspectors’ report is full of praise for the boys’ academy, whose students are said to be “excellent learners, highly effective communicators and compassionate individuals”. According to the report, this is thanks to the support students receive from staff, who are “highly ambitious for all pupils” and who have fostered a “warm and inclusive” culture.

Ofsted’s feedback makes clear the strength of teaching and learning and how students are encouraged to strive and excel. This is achieved through a “skillfully planned” curriculum which enables students to leave the school with “impressive qualifications” which prepare them for success in the next stage of their studies or careers.
Alongside the merits of the academic curriculum, inspectors were also keen to praise the academy for its extracurricular activities and wider work to prepare students for life beyond school. They note that students are given the confidence “to enter their adult lives as well-informed and active citizens” and that they are “well prepared for the future world of work”.

The boys’ academy sister school, Glenmoor Academy, is equally rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Leon Lima, Principal of Winton Academy, said:

“We are thrilled that Ofsted has confirmed that Winton Academy remains an ‘Outstanding’ school, an outcome which reflects both the aspirational culture we have created as well as the impressive achievements of our students. I would like to thank everyone across our school community for their hard work and collective efforts to create an ambitious yet supportive learning environment, and I look forward to the school continuing to go from strength to strength.”

Ben Antell, Director of Secondary Academies at United Learning, said:
“The school was last inspected by Ofsted in 2018, so it is gratifying that it has managed to maintain the exceptional standards of teaching and learning that inspectors were so impressed by six years ago. Their report is full of praise for the academy and is testament to the excellent efforts of students and staff which make Winton Academy such a wonderful place to learn.”
