William Hulme's Grammar School Students Set For Top Destinations

Students and staff at William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) are celebrating securing the next steps in their education after receiving another very strong set of A Levels results today.

As a reward for their hard work, many Sixth Formers have been excited to confirm their places at universities of their choice – including the University of Cambridge and a host of Russell Group institutions, such as University College London and the University of Manchester.

Students will be going on to study a wide range of high-quality, competitive courses, from Mechanical Engineering and Pharmacy to Computing and Mathematics.
Amongst these accomplishments are many students who achieved remarkable personal successes.

This includes brilliant results from two of the all-through school’s long-standing students who joined WHGS at primary age. Chandan Chikkanna Gowda has attended William Hulme’s since the age of three, and today achieved 4 A* grades, a Distinction* grade. He is looking forward to studying Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Similarly, Christina Lin, who joined the school at primary age, today has gained 3 A* grades and will be going on to study Medicine at University College, London. These incredible results are testament to their hard work and determination, achieving the grades to fulfil their aspirations of pursuing Medicine and Engineering.

Other students who are also celebrating particular successes include:
  • Abdul-Wasey Kaleem, who has achieved three A* grades and will be going on to a Degree Apprenticeship position in Digital and Technology Solutions with Rokos Capital Management and University of Exeter;
  • Romain Thuret, who has successfully achieved three A* grades and one A grade and will be going on to study Mathematics at Lancaster University;
  • Ansh Gupta, who has achieved one A* grade, two A grades and one B grade and will be going on to study Computer Science with Industrial Experience at University of Manchester;
  • Aqib Talukdar, who has gained one A* grade, two A grades and a B grade and will be going on to study Computer Science at University of Manchester;
  • Aleeza Waseem, who has achieved one A* grade and two A grades and will be going on to study Optometry;
Earlier this year, the school’s Sixth Form received praise from Ofsted inspectors, who pointed to the “personalised support” that students in the Sixth Form receive from staff.
One Sixth Former who collected their results today, Chandan, said:

My teachers really helped me develop and wouldn’t rest until I understood a concept in my lessons. They really helped push me and I couldn’t ask for better teachers.

Commenting on students’ achievements, Thom Copestake, Head of School at WHGS, said:

“We are incredibly proud of our students for securing such outstanding results after years of dedicated effort. These achievements are a well-deserved reflection of their perseverance, commitment, and resilience, and we couldn’t be happier with all they have accomplished.”

Kate Heaton, Principal of WHGS, said:

“I am very proud of our students collecting their results today after so many years of hard work. Once again, the year group has seen some brilliant results, which is a credit to their resilience and determination. As well as congratulating them, I would like thank our fantastic staff for their unwavering dedication to providing the best possible education for each student and to our wider school community for their support.”
