Accrington Academy and The Hyndburn Academy are helping students to plan for life beyond school with a special careers event on Monday 4th December.
Running from 6pm to 8pm at Accrington Academy’s Queens Road West site, the event is set to feature over 30 speakers from a wide range of businesses and organisations, giving those attending an insight into the potential opportunities available, both in higher education and industry.
Professions represented include plumbing, army engineering, the media, hydrotherapy, nursing, marketing, financial management, electrical – there’s even a children’s author!
Students will be able to pick and choose those talks that are relevant to them and there will also be stands from a range of educational organisations, including Lancaster University and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN.)
In addition, there will be a talk about student finance, including a session on how to budget while at university.
Commenting on the event, Andy O’Brien, Executive Principal at Accrington Academy and The Hyndburn Academy said:
“Events such as these are incredibly important as they help to give our students an insight into what’s available to them once they leave school, be that in higher education or employment and apprenticeships. Our aim is to help guide and inspire them as they take the next step towards a successful future.
“We would also like to thank all those businesses, universities and other organisations who have given up their time to support the event.”
