Joy at Salford City Academy for GCSE Day

Students at Salford City Academy in Greater Manchester are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results this morning.

Across Year 11, more than two-thirds (69%) of the students achieved a grade four or above in both English and maths, with 44% achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects.
Many of the school’s students also achieved some of the very top grades, including:
  • Seddick Saba, who achieved six grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade 6;
  • Stephen Lee, who achieved six grade 9s, one Level 2 Distinction, one grade 7 and one grade 6;
  • Michal Mumbo, who achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7;
  • Ahmed Abdulmughni, who achieved four grade 9s, four grade 8s, one grade 7 and two grade 6s;
  • David Itoya, who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s and one grade 6;
  • Abigail Anbazhagan, who achieved three grade 9s, five grade 8s and two grade 7s.  
Seddick said:
“I am delighted with my results, I worked so hard. Thank you to all my teachers for their support.”
Stephen added:
“I am so happy to have achieved my grades, I am enrolling in college tomorrow and am so excited.”
Commenting on students’ achievements, Melanie Haselden, Principal at Salford City Academy, said:
All of us at Salford City Academy are delighted with our results. I am so proud of students and staff alike who have all worked tremendously hard together to achieve some very positive results. As students prepare to take their next steps, they can do so knowing they have the tools to be successful in whichever path is right for them and we look forward to continuing to support them in this.”
