Newstead Wood School Students Secure Places at Country's Top Universities.

A Level results released today show that just under half (49%) of entries at the school were awarded A*-A grades.

Newstead Wood School is celebrating today after Sixth Formers received their A Level results, with students once again earning places at a host of the country’s top universities.

Just under half (49%) of entries were awarded A*-A grades which has enabled the school’s high-performing students to secure seats on some of the UK’s most competitive university courses.

Students at the school performed particularly well this year in Design Technology and Religious Studies which saw the highest number of entries being awarded the top A* grade.
An impressive seven Sixth Formers are now set to take up places at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, with students across the Year 13 cohort moving on to a range of prestigious, Russell Group institutions, including the University of Durham, King’s College London and Imperial College London.
Overall, 127 of the school’s departing Year 13s will embark on studies at Russell Group universities in September, with 18 students reading Medicine and Dentistry, 20 reading Economics, seven reading Law and seven reading Politics.
Alan Blount, Headteacher at Newstead Wood School, said:
“Very well done to our Sixth Formers receiving their A Level results today, marking another impressive year for our school. Our students have shown great commitment to their A Level studies and have been determined to reach, and in some cases exceed, their goals. It is fantastic therefore to see so many of our young people rightfully celebrating today and looking ahead with such excitement to begin their university courses of choice in September.

“Thank you to our excellent Sixth Form team who are unwavering in their support for our students and ensure that each and every year, they do all they can to help our young people achieve their very best.”
