Sedgehill Sixth Formers Secure Their Success

More higher-level grades enable Sedgehill Academy’s Year 13s to lock in excellent university and further study options.

This morning, celebrations have been underway at Sedgehill Academy as A Levels and their equivalent qualifications were awarded across the country.

At A Level, Year 13s achieved a significant rise in the number of higher-level grades this year – with over half of entries (52%) awarded A* to B grades and 85% awarded A* to C grades.
Students have been excited to secure their next steps in life and education, with fantastic variety of future pursuits seen across the Year 13 cohort. Among those celebrating are:
  • Vodie, who will be heading to the United States, after winning a full basketball scholarship to Hill College Dallas, Texas;
  • Shilon, who has won a scholarship to study law at the University of Lancaster;
  • Frankie, who achieved highly impressive straight As at A Level and will now be studying at King’s College London;
  • Adama, who achieved two Distinctions and one double Distinction at BTEC.
Clare Cassidy, Principal of Sedgehill Academy, said of the day:

“It has been a genuine pleasure to see so many of our Year 13s celebrating their achievements today, as they receive their qualifications and secure their next steps in education.

“These outcomes are vital for opening up choices for the future and we are pleased to see a strong upward trend in the higher-level grades achieved. But we are also proud of the character each young person has demonstrated and the individual pursuits and interests they have nurtured during their time with us.

“We want to thank our Year 13s – many of whom have been with us since Year 7 – for everything they have each brought to our school community and the example they have set for our younger cohorts through their hard work and attitudes. As we do, my sincere thanks of course also go to staff for their incredible hard work and support to students.”
