Wye School Continues to Be Rated 'Good' by Ofsted

Catgeories : Group news

Report notes that students “feel valued and cared for as part of this close school community”.

Students and staff at Wye School are celebrating this week after Ofsted confirmed the academy continues to be a ‘Good’ school following an inspection in May.
In their report, the Inspectors commend the school’s ambition, noting that it is “aspirational” for all students to achieve well and to move confidently on to the next stage of their education or employment. Inspectors praise the school for the strength of the academic curriculum, describing it as “ambitious and broad”. They also commend teachers for their effective delivery of the curriculum, noting that they ensure that students “acquire the key knowledge and skills they need to be successful”.
In addition to the high-quality academic provision, the Inspectors were highly impressed by students’ attitudes and behaviour. They found students to be “kind, caring and considerate of others” as well as being “very accepting of each other” and “keen to recognise diversity”. This is thanks to the “warm and friendly” culture created by school leaders and staff members, who ensure that students “feel valued and cared for as part of this close school community”.

Inspectors likewise commend the range of extra-curricular opportunities available to students to support their wider development “effectively”. They note that students enjoy taking on responsibilities in the school and local communities, such as getting involved in the Student Council and in charity work.

Luke Magee, Principal of Wye School, said:
“We are very pleased that Ofsted has confirmed that Wye School continues to be a ‘Good’ school and to have received highly positive comments from the Inspectors. It is particularly gratifying that, alongside highlighting the excellent education we offer, they were impressed by the mature and respectful manner in which our students conduct themselves.

“Our students are wonderful ambassadors for our school, and I would like to thank them as well as our brilliant staff for their hard work and dedication. Over the coming months and years, we look forward to building on this report to ensure we continue to take the school from strength to strength.”

Ben Antell, Director of Secondary Academies at United Learning, said:
“The feedback from Ofsted is very encouraging and highlights the ambition of students, staff and governors alike. The inspection report is full of praise for the school and the way in which staff support students, including young people with SEND, to achieve their very best. Congratulations to all within the school community for your enduring efforts.”
