Future Teachers

The Future Teachers programme is an exciting opportunity for graduates considering a career in teaching. It provides graduates with the opportunity to gain one year of practical work experience in United Learning schools before embarking on their teaching journey.

Future Teachers work as cover supervisors for their first year, earning a fair wage and having access to support and training to help them develop their skills in the classroom. Schools benefit from having dedicated cover supervision, which improves continuity for pupils, reduces the burden on teaching staff and increases wellbeing. It also ensures that prospective teacher training candidates get a feel for life in the classroom.

Information for schools

We have partnered with Teaching Personnel to operate the Future Teachers programme.   In addition to improving staff wellbeing and reducing cover costs, the programme can:

  • Help you recruit graduates locally and grow your own “Future Teacher” workforce
  • Improve the pupil experience by utilising trained cover supervisors at times of staff absence
  • Support your Future Teachers and provide access to free, tailored CPD resources in their first year to help them develop their classroom skills

The service is fully vetted.
