Accrington Academy’s creative and performing arts students took centre stage for the school’s ‘Shine’ showcase event. Staged at the Queen’s Road West site on Tuesday 9th July, the event, which is a highlight in the school calendar, featured performances from the art, dance, drama, media, music and photography departments.
As well as a dance production and drama pieces from Years 8, 11 and 12, the event featured art, media and photography displays. There were also plus musical performances by individual students, the academy’s jazz band, Rockschool and choir, ‘Vocal Adrenaline.’
Accrington Academy Head Teacher James Kerfoot said:
“Shine provides our students with the ideal opportunity to channel their creative side, working both individually and in teams to perform in front of a live audience. It’s also the perfect demonstration of our commitment to provide an Education with Character – an education which introduces our students to new and different experiences and broadens their horizons.”
