Students and staff at Walthamstow Academy are celebrating today after receiving another strong set of GCSE results. 67% of students achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.
These results follow the academy’s best ever A Levels last week, with the top grades of A* and A rising exponentially from 7% to 35% in a year. In addition, 61% of grades were awarded A*-B thus ensuring that students were able to take up offers at their first choice universities.
Emma Skae, Principal of Walthamstow Academy, said:
“I would like to congratulate every student picking up their GCSE results today. Their hard work throughout the year has clearly paid off and will stand them in good stead for the next stages of their lives and school careers.
“I hope staff, too, take pride in these results; they have played a vital role in our students’ studies and provided invaluable support to them throughout.
“What is particularly pleasing is the number of students who are returning to study at our thriving Sixth Form, which saw its highest ever results last week and a record number of students achieving the top grades.”
Thas (1A^, 3A* and 6A) said of his results:
“Years of hard work finally paid off. I am extremely happy about the grades I’ve got, but I am more grateful to the teachers and staff for all the support and care they have given months prior to the exams. If I am to give a piece of advice I will say that ‘in the end, all the blood, sweat and tears are worth it’.”
Asher (2A*, 7A and a B) said:
“I am pleased with my results. I am thankful to my teachers, who worked through day and night to make sure we achieved the best results we could. Walthamstow Academy has enabled me to set a foundation, going forward into A Levels and in my future career. I’d say to everyone who is sitting their GSCEs in the near future to aim high, set a standard and fulfil your expectations.”
Aleksandra (7A and 3B) said:
“I am very happy about my grades and even more that I am staying for Sixth Form here at Walthamstow Academy. I am so grateful to the teachers for all their help and support and of course for believing in me. My advice would be to never give up on the dream you have because you can beat all the odds.”
