Pupils “Thrive” at Now ‘Outstanding’ Fulham Primary School

Pupils described as “highly enthusiastic” about their learning, with behaviour described as “exemplary”.

Students and staff at Fulham Primary School are celebrating this week after Ofsted rated the academy ‘Outstanding’ in all five categories, following an inspection in April.

The Inspectors’ report has praised the school’s staff and leaders for their commitment to “ensuring success for all” – something which Ofsted confirms is “being realised”. As a result, Fulham Primary is a place in which pupils “thrive” and a school they are “rightly proud of”.

As part of the many areas singled out for praise, the Inspectors highlighted the impact of staff’s “consistently high expectations” for each and every child, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Pupils at the school are described as having “exemplary” attitudes and behaviours and being “highly enthusiastic about their learning”, creating a “calm and harmonious” learning environment.

The report also praised the strength of the school's “broad and ambitious” academic curriculum, which sits alongside a rich plethora of opportunities beyond the curriculum to provide pupils with an ‘education with character’. Pupils are said to be eager to get involved in all aspects of school life and “readily take on” a variety of responsibilities, including as head boy or girl, or as playground buddies. In addition, they benefit from a range of exciting projects with partner organisations, from Cirque du Soleil and Rolls Royce to Chelsea Football Club.

John Lynch, Head of Fulham Primary School, said:

“We are thrilled to have been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and to receive this external recognition of what we seek to offer our pupils as part of an excellent, ambitious primary education. This outcome is testament to our wonderful staff who work so hard to ensure all pupils can flourish and succeed, as well as of course to our brilliant pupils. I would like to thank everyone across our school community for their individual contributions to this milestone achievement for us and for their continued support of Fulham Primary School.”

Seamus Gibbons, Executive Principal of Fulham Primary School as well as nearby Langford Primary, also rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, added:

“Across our local cluster of schools, we are proud to offer pupils a rich and exciting education and are very pleased that Ofsted has confirmed the excellent experience children have at Fulham Primary. Staff have worked hard to create a culture in which pupils thrive so it is fantastic to see their efforts recognised in this judgement.”

Darran Ellison-Lee, Director of Primary Education at United Learning, said:

“This is an excellent outcome which the entire school community can take great pride in. An ‘Outstanding’ judgement from Ofsted is a significant achievement, requiring a steadfast commitment from everyone involved – including pupils, staff, parents and governors – to consistently building on progress and drawing out “the best in everyone”.”
