Highly encouraging Ofsted report for Cravenwood Primary Academy

Primary school judged ‘Good’ in all categories

Pupils and staff at Cravenwood Primary Academy are celebrating being judged ‘Good’ in all categories in a highly encouraging Ofsted report.

Inspectors, who spent two days at the school, found strong evidence that the academy is improving rapidly particularly in the quality of teaching, pupil achievement and behaviour.  Inspectors gave the school a highly complimentary report and described it as ‘a happy, caring place where staff and pupils thrive’.  They highlighted the following areas as being particularly strong:

  • The leadership of Principal Jancie Garratt-Simpson who is said to provide ‘inspirational leadership’;
  • The quality of teaching which is leading to rising pupil attainment in all key stages;
  • The enthusiasm of teachers who are said to ‘motivate’ pupils and instil in them ‘good attitudes for learning’;
  • The school’s safeguarding procedures which are described as ‘rigorous and effective’;
  • The attitudes of pupils who are said to be ‘friendly and supportive of each other’.

Commenting on the report, Principal Jancie Garratt-Simpson said:

“The whole school community is thrilled with this report which recognises all the fantastic work underway at Cravenwood.  I am delighted that the Ofsted inspectors have recognised the strong progress which we know the school has made recently but just as importantly, we are greatly encouraged by the inspectors’ confidence in our ability to improve further.  Spurred on by this report, we will continue to work hard and drive improvement throughout the school.”
