Students at Manchester Academy are celebrating after receiving the academy’s best ever GCSE results today.
50% of students achieved five or more A*-C grades including English and maths compared to 48% last year. In total, 92% of students achieved five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C.
Year 11 student Yasin Alhamwy had cause for celebration. Having arrived at the academy in Year 7 with no English, he has gone from strength to strength to finally achieve five A*, three A and two B grades.
The academy’s modern foreign languages department led by Saima Baksh also experienced noteworthy success. There was a 100% pass rate in Spanish GCSE with 33% of students achieving A*-A grades.
Dr Antony Edkins, Executive Principal and Senior Partner, said:
‘We are very pleased with these results, which continue to demonstrate improvement across the board and are the highest we have ever achieved. We are extremely ambitious for our students and this improvement and progress are testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. We look forward to this continuing to increase in the future.’
