High Hazels Academy had it all figured out when it beat other local schools to take top spot in a maths-based contest.
Run by the Sheffield South East Learning Partnership (SSELP), the Multiplication Tables Tournament was aimed at Year 4 children, with pupils from 14 schools putting their knowledge of the times table to the test.
Starting back in November, the competition pitted teams of four from each school against one another in a series of quiz style heats, with the last two facing each other in the final.
Taking part in last week’s final were Prince Edward Primary School, who hosted the tournament, and High Hazels Academy, whose team of four - Subhan Mohammed, Sabba Iqbal, Sara Zaman and Bahjah Aden - lifted the prestigious winners’ trophy, onto which their names will be engraved for posterity
Commenting on the school’s success, High Hazels Head Teacher Mrs Maqsood-Shah said:
“This is fantastic news for the school. A huge well done to Subhan, Sabba, Sara and Bahjah and to everyone who supported them throughout the competition – we are all incredibly proud of you!”
