A national accolade for quality has been awarded to Hanwell Fields Community School in Banbury for its work in improving the well-being, resilience and self-esteem of its pupils.
The Achievement for All Quality Mark Award recognises the impressive work being done by the school to improve progress in reading, writing and maths for all pupils, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities.
The award has been developed by leading education charity Achievement for All, which offers support programmes to schools to help them improve outcomes in the lowest achieving 20 per cent of children.
Hanwell Fields Community School, which was judged to be ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2015, has been working in partnership with Achievement for All for the last three academic years. During this time, it has seen a marked improvement in a variety of aspects of school life, including working with parents and carers through parental workshops and meetings, the progress children make throughout their time at Hanwell Fields and the work the school does around enriching children's education.

"Working with Achievement for All has been an excellent opportunity as it has helped drive us to ask challenging questions and constantly monitor and evaluate the education we provide, which in turn has helped us to improve standards for children. We have seen an enormous development in the partnership we have with parents and the termly passport for learning meetings we hold, where we set targets and discuss in detail children's progress, has had an enormous impact on progress."

Achievement for All works closely with parents, carers, teachers and the individual child to secure the best outcome and attainment for their students through personalised and specific targets. The unique programmes are delivered directly to schools and settings via a highly skilled and trained team of expert coaches. The Quality Mark award focuses on a variety of categories such as strategic planning, quality of teaching and learning, effective use of interventions, pupil progress and community relationships.
