The children were full of pride as they showed him around the playground which was designed to be a fun, creative space that would promote pupils’ development and social skills.
Having cut the ribbon, the playground was declared officially open, and Mr Coleman met with the Head of School John Lynch, Executive Principal Seamus Gibbons and the Chair of Governors Andy Mathias.
The pupils also enjoyed an assembly given by Mr Coleman during which he spoke about his life as an MP. Afterwards, the children embraced the opportunity to quiz him on a range of topics, from his favourite sport to his plans to improve the local area.
John Lynch, Head of Fulham Primary School, said:
“It was wonderful to have Ben Coleman MP visit us last week to open our new school playground. I know the children really enjoyed chatting to him and asking him questions about his life as an MP and what it is like working in Parliament. All of us at Fulham Primary School are very grateful to him for generously giving up his time to visit us and to answer our pupils’ questions so thoughtfully.”
“It was an honour to open Fulham Primary’s exciting, imaginative new playground, which I’m sure will make playtimes even more active and fun. I was really impressed by the pupils’ smart, thoughtful questions – and by how happy and well-behaved they seemed.”
