Last week two Sheffield Park Academy students participated in a poignant and thought-provoking trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau
Year 12 students Ishaaq Ahmed and Mahidul Alam took part in the trip organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust as part of its ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ programme.
To prepare them for the trip, both Ishaaq and Mahidul participated in special seminars where they heard first-hand accounts from Holocaust survivors. As well as learning about what happened during the Holocaust, the students also explored its universal lessons and relevance for today.
Commenting on the trip, Sheffield Park Academy Principal Debbie McShane said:
“We are grateful to the Holocaust Educational Trust for co-ordinating the visit and we hope that as a result of the experience, it will encourage not only Ishaaq and Mahidul, but also our other students to learn from the lessons of the Holocaust and make a positive difference in their own lives.”
