Stockport Academy students celebrate best ever GCSE results

58% of students earned five or more A*-C grades including English and maths – a sharp rise of 17 percentage points when compared to last year’s results.

Students and staff at Stockport Academy are celebrating today after achieving the academy’s best ever GCSE results.

58% of students earned five or more A*-C grades including English and maths – a sharp rise of 17 percentage points when compared to last year’s results.

Significantly, this year’s GCSEs lift the academy far above the government’s floor target and very close to the national average for 2013 of 60%.

Stockport Academy Principal Frank McCarron said:

'These results are an excellent increase on previous years and are a tribute to the very hard work of our students and staff. I am absolutely delighted for those students who are celebrating today and congratulate them on some excellent individual achievements. We are very pleased with these results which show a considerable jump in our performance.'
