United College Sixth Formers celebrate A Level success

Today, students at United College Sixth Form (UCSF), based at Swindon Academy, are celebrating after securing places at their first-choice universities.

This year, A Levels were awarded following Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) due to the cancellation of external examinations. At UCSF, students sat unseen mock exams and completed coursework as part of this assessment process.

Among those celebrating today are:

  • Ellie Styles who will be joining the University of York to study Natural Sciences;
  • Zara Bourne who will be joining the University of Gloucestershire to study Criminology and Psychology;
  • Alan Dominiak who will be joining the University of Sussex to study Psychology;
  • Owen Vincent who will be joining the University of Salford to study Broadcast Journalism;
  • Ben Bicknell who will be joining the University of Brighton to study Biology;
  • Ayrton Green who will be joining the University of Reading to study Business Management.

Congratulating the students on their success, Ruth Robinson, Executive Principal of Swindon Academy and Nova Hreod Academy, said:

“Well done to all our Sixth Formers who have seen their hard work and determination pay off with an excellent set of university destinations. In what has been an incredibly difficult 18 months, our students have continued to showcase inspiring resilience and determination to complete their A Level studies and secure places at their first-choice universities.

“Thank you to Karen Wright, the Secondary Headteacher for her leadership throughout the pandemic, our entire Sixth Form team for their tireless efforts and the support they have given to each and every one of our students. I know we are all particularly delighted to see so many of our young people going to on to pursue STEM subjects. It has been fantastic to support our Sixth Formers in nurturing their interests and talents over the past two years and I look forward to seeing them continue to go from strength to strength in the future.”
