United Learning Celebrates Students and Staff across the Country with Virtual Best in Everyone Awards.

Last Friday, students and staff across the country saw their achievements recognised as part of the Group’s virtual Best in Everyone Awards.

As a testament to the hard work and commitment of individuals across the Group, 400 nominations were sent in by schools up and down the country this year, with the judging panel having the difficult task of selecting only one winner in each of the 45 categories. This year’s judging panel comprised the Group’s Regional Directors as well as Sir Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning.

As part of the online celebration, each winner was announced via a personalised video, shared on United Learning’s Twitter feed to an audience of over 10,000 followers. The bespoke videos included a photo of the winner, as well as a message from a member of the senior leadership team at the winner’s school.

Sir Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning, said:

“In what is a challenging time for pupils, teachers and support staff across the country, it is incredibly important that we continue to celebrate the ongoing hard work and successes of individuals and teams across our schools.

“Our virtual Best in Everyone celebration showcased the inspiring ambition, determination and enthusiasm of young people and colleagues across the Group. Congratulations to all our highly deserving winners, as well as to those who were nominated for one of this year’s awards.”

Ashiki Nandi, a Year 9 student at Northampton Academy and winner of the Pupil of the Year Award for Years 7-9, said:

“When I found out I had won such a prestigious prize, I was overjoyed and shocked. I feel extremely proud of myself for working so hard to receive this recognition. I am very grateful to all my teachers for challenging me academically and strengthening my character. I would like to thank Mrs Ashton in particular, who nominated me for this award and supported me the whole way.”

Nicola Palmer, Head Teacher at The Hyndburn Academy and winner of the Secondary School Leader of the Year Award, said:

“I am humbled to have been given such a wonderful award. I feel very lucky to lead The Hyndburn Academy and oversee the significant progress that has been achieved in recent years. We have an incredible group of students and staff and this award is testament to their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm.”

To commemorate their outstanding achievement, all Best in Everyone winners have received a special glass award. See our full list of winners here. Those who reached the shortlist have also received a framed certificate, whilst all those who were nominated have been awarded a certificate of recognition.

Thank you to Arbor, Caterlink, Chartwells and IDNS, who kindly sponsored our 2021 awards.
