Walthamstow Primary Academy officially opened yesterday for its very first day and welcomed its first cohort of Reception pupils.
Having already met their new teachers and classmates at a special Sports Day during the summer break and an induction day with their families on Friday, the energetic group of 4 and 5 year olds excitedly entered their new classrooms ready to begin their school careers.
Walthamstow Primary Academy will grow by introducing a new reception class each school year and eventually will form a school of 420 pupils. The new school is located next door to its sister school Walthamstow Academy which will work closely with the primary school.
Stephanie Thomas, Principal of Walthamstow Primary Academy said:
“It is always exciting for teachers to see Reception pupils arriving on their first day of school but yesterday was extra special for us all as we welcomed our first ever pupils. It has been an absolute pleasure to see them all arriving in their smart new uniforms ready to start learning. Walthamstow Primary Academy has begun with a fantastic group of children, enthusiastic and inspirational teachers and very supportive parents. I have every confidence that together we can quickly establish Walthamstow Primary Academy as a school the whole community can be proud of.”
As part of United Learning – of which Walthamstow Academy is also a part – Walthamstow Primary Academy will be able to share best practice with schools across the country and staff will benefit from the Group’s wide range of high-quality professional development opportunities.
Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning said:
“We are delighted that Walthamstow Primary Academy has officially opened and it is a pleasure to welcome all the children, staff and parents into United Learning. Under the dynamic leadership of Stephanie Thomas and with the support our flourishing Walthamstow Academy we expect that Walthamstow Primary Academy will provide generations of local children with an outstanding education.”
