William Hulme’s Grammar School Students Celebrate Exam Success

Students and staff at William Hulme’s Grammar School are today celebrating their GCSE results, as 75% of students achieved five or more A*-C grades including a 4 or above in both English and maths.

An impressive 55% of students achieved the new national measure of Level 5 in both English and maths and 25% of students gained the E-Bacc. 

This year, grades for English and maths have changed into a numeric scale with a new highest grade of 9.  13% of all English Literature entries were at the new Grade 9 and overall, 14 students at WHGS achieved this new top grade.

Nearly 25% of students gained at least 5 A/A* and/or 7-9 grades, with notable individual successes including:

Peter Mulholland, Principal of William Hulme’s Grammar School, said:

“These are strong results and it is particularly pleasing to see some of our students celebrating excellent individual performances.  Our students and staff have worked incredibly hard all year and these results are a fitting reward.  The results build on last week’s very good A Level results and I am delighted that so many students will be joining our Sixth Form in September. Their excellent individual results will set them up for a successful future in our new 6th Form Centre.”
