We are committed to supporting our schools to develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with their communities. School facilities can be an excellent community asset, and we support our schools to open their facilities to the community. Several of our schools have repurposed surplus space such as former caretakers’ bungalows, and re-opened previously closed youth and community centres, which now serve as community hubs.
All our community hubs are different as they are designed with and by children, young people and local communities to create positive, sustainable change on a neighbourhood level. Community hubs can offer our children and young people opportunities to provide service to others and develop their own leadership, provide support to families to enable them and their children to thrive, and offer space for connection, opportunity, and celebration.
