Students and staff at Paddington Academy are celebrating today as its Year 13 students once again achieve impressive A level results. 74% of all grades were A*-B, 38% were A*-A and the overall pass rate was 100%, enabling students to take up some excellent university offers. The Sixth Form is a very large and popular one, with 161 students in Year 13 this year.
In addition to this, 22 students (14% of the cohort) gained three A*/A grades, the highest number ever seen at the school. Performance was particularly strong in Maths, where 63% of students gained an A*/A, Further Maths (57%) and Chemistry 51%.
These strong results mean over 40% of students already have a confirmed place at a Russell Group university – well above the national average – with more expected to be confirmed in the coming days. 95% of students are expected to take up a university offer this year based on the high results achieved.
Students celebrating today include:
- Yousif Ahmad who gained four A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics and will read Physics at the University of Oxford
- Masum Hussain who gained three A* grades and one A in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and History and will study Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial
- Amany Hassan who achieved two A* grades and one A and will study Dentistry at Kings College
- Maryam Mohamed who achieved two A* grades and one A and will study Mechanical Engineering at Imperial
- Isobel Soares who achieved two A* grades and one A and will study Medicine at Imperial
Commenting on the students’ successes, Peter Jones, Principal at Paddington Academy, said:
“I am very proud of what our students have achieved, both as individuals and as an entire cohort. Whilst our Sixth Form has only continued to grow in popularity, this is yet another fantastic set of results across the board, reflecting the continued high standards that permeate our academy.
“Nothing makes a difference to students’ futures like a set of excellent exam results: it opens doors for them and lends lifelong benefits. But each of our students are also accomplished individuals beyond their academic learning and have all contributed significantly to our academy community.
“As our Year 13 leavers move forward with knowledge, character and confidence, I would like to thank them for what they have added to Paddington Academy and wish them the very best in their next steps. We look forward to seeing them continue to succeed and lead happy and fulfilled lives.”
