Commenting on the speech and policy announcement made by Rt Hon Tristram Hunt MP at United Learning’s Walthamstow Academy…

Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning said:

“All good schools form partnerships to extend opportunity for their pupils. Those between state- and privately-funded schools in our group are particularly valuable. Both sides gain. Our pupils get experiences they would never otherwise have had. Our staff learn from one another. Our charity continues to fulfil its founding aims of extending opportunity and excellent education to more young people”.

David Levin, United Learning’s Managing Director, Independent Schools said:

“The partnership between our independent schools and academies is built upon mutual respect and benefit. Every Head and every teacher within our Group wants the very best for their pupils and will take every additional opportunity to help achieve this”.

Emma Skae, Principal of Walthamstow Academy said:

“As a Principal in United Learning, one of the major benefits to me in our partnership working is the ability to meet and share best practice with other Heads in the Group. What all of us find is that this is very much two way traffic; there is no monopoly in good ideas or best practice and we all benefit from the opportunity to share and work together”.
