At the academy in Lewisham, South London, around two-thirds (65%) of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and Maths, with 42% achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects.
Some standout students include Ange, who achieved ten grade 9s, one grade 8, and an A in Additional Maths – and Claudia, who achieved five grade 9s, four grades 8 and one grade 7.
As they collected their results, students were asked what had made the difference. One Year 11 said:
“Being disciplined is what really helped me.”
Ange-Evry added:
“My advice to others is always try to be just a little better today than you were yesterday.”
Aedan was happy with his results, saying:
“Hard work paid off!”
Last week, there were also celebrations at the school’s Sixth Form as students received their A Level and equivalent results and secured their next steps. The university places and other destinations they are now moving onto reflect the breadth of interests and talents of their young people and the rich education with character offered at Sedgehill Academy.
Commenting on students’ achievements, Clare Cassidy, Principal at Sedgehill Academy, said:
“Over the entire course of their time with us, this group of students has shown real dedication and commitment to their studies, as well as being active members of our school community. We are proud of all those who are celebrating today, knowing that their hard work has resulted in some strong outcomes. We look forward to welcoming many of them back to continue their studies at our Sixth Form in just a few short weeks.”
