Kettering Buccleuch Academy celebrates A Level results

A quarter (24%) of all A Level entries were graded A* or A – four times the number of entries awarded the top grades last year. Overall, 41% of entries were awarded A* to B grades which is an impressive 17 percentage points higher than last summer’s results. There was also an increase in the overall pass rate with 99% of entries achieving A*-E grades.

With so many top grades achieved, the number of students taking up places at Russell Group universities has risen. Year 13 Aranjeet Paul was thrilled to receive two A* grades and an A and will be heading off to study Maths at the University of Warwick. Fellow student Dominic Eddy became the first student from the academy to secure an unconditional offer to join the Naval Officer Training Corps after receiving two A grades and a B.

Notable performances were also seen from:

Evie Brudenall A*AB

Nico Yazdi AAAB

James McKenna AAA

Harvey Bithray AAA

Jodie Meaton AAB

Dominic Eddy, Head Boy at Kettering Buccleuch Academy, said:

“It’s satisfying to know that the accumulation of hard work and commitment has come to fruition and that I can pursue my career as an Officer in the Navy.”

Student Jodie Meaton said:

“I’d like to really thank the school; it’s been excellent and a really good experience.”

James Bowkett, Principal of Kettering Buccleuch Academy, said:“

We are absolutely delighted with our results this year. Many congratulations to all our students who are celebrating their results today and to those who have secured the university places of their choice. Today we have seen some impressive individual results as well as a significant increase in the number of top grades being achieved since last summer. It is a well-deserved reward for all the hard work and dedication of students and staff.

“It is also particularly pleasing that we are celebrating such excellent Russell Group successes and I hope that this inspires our next Sixth Form cohort and younger students to aim just as high.”
