Walthamstow Academy students celebrate GCSE success
Students at Walthamstow Academy have been celebrating after receiving their GCSE results today.
These showed that this year 70% of students achieved five or more good passes (grade 4 or above) including English and maths.
14% of students achieved the Basics including English and maths at Grades 7 and above – more than doubling last year’s performance.
Emma Skae, Principal of Walthamstow Academy, said:
“I would like to congratulate our students on these results which have been achieved through a combination of hard work, determination and ambition.
“Students will now be able to continue their education at our thriving Sixth Form which celebrated some very good A Level results last week.
“We know that our students hugely value their time at Walthamstow Academy and so it is particularly pleasing when their enjoyment of their learning is matched by academic success in their exams.
“Our students are encouraged and motivated by our staff and also by their family and friends. It’s a real team effort for every student who does well here and I would like to thank everyone involved in their success.”
Student Kieron Taylor said:
“The welcoming atmosphere and specialist teachers at Walthamstow Academy created a stable learning environment, which aided my learning exponentially.”
Rio Aroun-Maxwell said:
“I don’t think that my success would be nearly as attainable without my friends, family and the amazing support from my teachers. My development as a learner was aided consistently and passionately from the beginning to the end. Keep on trying; it pays off in the end.”
