Kettering Buccleuch Academy soars above national average

Today students and staff at Kettering Buccleuch Academy are celebrating after the Department of Education released new league tables, which puts the school in the top four performers in Northamptonshire based on its Progress 8 measure.

Progress 8 is the government’s progress measure for students taking their GCSEs. It compares the progress made by individual students between starting secondary school and their performance at GCSE with those with similar starting points nationally. Schools are given a numeric score, with any figure over 0 showing students on average do better at GCSE than those nationally with similar prior attainment.

At Kettering Buccleuch Academy, the school’s Progress 8 score has markedly improved in recent years and, following 2019’s GCSE results, it now sits high above the national average at +0.61. This strong performance makes the academy the highest performer in Kettering based on the measure and puts it in the top four schools in the county.

Dino Di Salvo, Principal of Kettering Buccleuch Academy, said:

“At Kettering Buccleuch Academy we pride ourselves on giving our students the skills and knowledge they need to make strong progress and reach their full potential, both in terms of helping them to achieve top results and to develop into responsible, well-rounded citizens.

“It is testament to the tireless work and dedication of our students and staff that we now have a Progress 8 score that is well above the national average. This shows that compared to schools across the country, our students make better progress during their time with us. We look forward to continuing to support and challenge all of our students as we strive to raise ambitions and attainment across the academy for the future.”
